Note from the Image banner via the admin:

The image banner demands fresh photos from across the globe.

The image banner gets a tad fussy when it’s diverse imagery demands are not met.

It requires images that inspire, yet differ. Cities, landscapes, people, or anything that goes with the definition of world, All that relates to or affects the life of a person.

Images should be at least 1000 pixels wide and greater. The images will be cropped to 110 pixels tall, so try to find as much life in a small stripe of a photo as you can.

We’ll crop the photos and deal with all that, you just need to send them.

The more photos the better- there is no limit.

Also, we’ll include your name, team, business, location of photo, or message of your choice in the photo. It’s up to you.

Go ahead and fill out this form, upload your photo, and we’ll let you know when it’s included in the rotation.

THANKS!!

I found the highest volume of web searches for terms related to this website. The results are interesting. M stands for million and K stands for thousand. The numbers are monthly search volume according to about.com’s keyword tool.

From what i know, website optimization is a fancy way of saying, ‘use the right words’. This shows you how far my knowledge extends into this subject. I do know that some people put a lot of attention into using the popular words in their posts, and using them the correct number of times.

Search engines don’t care how your website looks, all the search engine cares about is if you have good content. The reason they care if it’s good content or not is so that web searches are accurate.

I started my first experiment in search engine optimization. Using the popular words in the table, i created a front page description of this site. Here it is:

How to help save the world? The problems of the world have a simple solution that all people possess. You are encouraged to: spread the love, share the art, tell the stories, write the poems, give advice, communicate your thoughts, and help make a more perfect world. Inspiration can motivate others to: Live a better life, better the environment, create positive impacts, help mankind, educate children, set a good example, increase goodwill, restore governments, make human rights widely known, and achieve success.

Here are the specific keywords that i used in the paragraph. I also used these as the META keywords for the home page. (that means they are incorporated into the code so that search engines have no doubt)

Really Popular keywords used:

Love, World, Life, People, Help, Stories, Poems, Problems, Environment, Communication, Motivation, Inspirational, Perfect World, Motivational, Save the world

Additional keywords used:

Live, Life, Good, Create, Positive, Impact, Mankind, Educate, Children, Goodwill, Restore, Government, Human Rights, Success, art, advice, thought,

Ya, it’s brilliant, i know. Regardless if it works in driving more traffic to the site, at least it is a good description for what this site is all about. Let me say again that i used those keywords in the paragraph AND in the SEO plugin (Search Engine Optimization) as meta keywords.

A note to authors on this site: keep this post in mind when you write articles. By using the popular keywords, more traffic is directed to your post. You can use the keyword tool to search for popular terms related to your topic. Also, there is a SEO plugin that you can choose to use -or not. It’s in your list of options when writing blog posts.

A note to other webmasters: If you also intend to help the world in any way, by all means be effective as you can and use SEO to make it happen. If you have any handy tips, please let us know. Let’s link up!

Category Tips

By hovering over a category, the definition will pop up below your cursor.

If there is a category that is missing, please suggest a new category. Think broad.

When suggesting a new category, it’s be great if you also submit the best definition you can find.

Also, when you hover over a category an RSS symbol pops up to the right. Drag your mouse to the right and click on that only if you want to subscribe to that category only. If you would like to subscribe to all posts, go ahead and use the RSS button that is located below all the categories.

The latest update and the latest changes to helpsavetheworld.net

Dear Members,

I wanted to give you a heads up on recent site changes.

The last promoted changes brought in a few hundred visitors, which they got to see the custom tour and were asked for feedback. About 3 people gave any sort of feedback; therefore I took the lack of response and converted it to all the feedback I could want. The feedback received, and the lack thereof was very helpful in realizing that the complexity had to be ditched, and simplicity returned.

The next series of changes that I worked on were the look. If you would like to know more about that I would be more than willing to share information about css. (css is code that determines the look of a website)

The structure of the website, the function, had been quite improved in the comments, forms, and pages, but the flow of attention still bothered me. My attention remained to get caught at a few spots. An important realization was had: As I wanted this site to be universal, I felt I needed to eliminate a few unneeded static pages, and the words and ideas I put there. Helpsavetheworld.net’s source is the people that contribute to it. Not the ideas I contribute to it while masking as absolute unanimous truth. If you want to hear my ideas you can go to my blog, other than that, the slate has been cleared for your ideas, for that is where the power lies.

To give you an example, I had the landing page that read something like this before I realized it had to go: Continue reading The latest update and the latest changes to helpsavetheworld.net

Tell me about Wordpress

This is an author’s post by Joe Ball:

Ok I’ll tell you. And the reason I’m telling you about it here is that it I thought it would fit in. It’s a communication tool.

Wordpress is a neat. It is a blogging (which is the verb blog, which is short for weblog, which is just stuff you write about or anything you want to share and put on the internet) program.

Wordpress has two versions. The first consists of signing up on wordpress.com and they’ll set you up with one of their free websites. You can choose your own domain name (website address) but you will see wordpress in the title. Ex: www.bestblog.wordpress.com
The other option is to get your own hosting service and install the wordpress program on your own hosting server. That’s what we got here folks. This second option is also free, but the hosting is not.

Here are some neat functions to wordpress:
