Hello,everybody! I have been away from here for several months, eager to return and leave my mark on the planet in a whole new way. Although I have been counseling and coaching others for almost twenty years, my heart truly wants to let go of so much talking in sessions and reach out to others in more practical ways. A series of physical and financial challenges and personal losses over the last couple of years has led me to exploring how I could become a significant supporter for those in need of meeting their basic needs as well as connecting others to more long-term resources such as healthcare and education for starters. It seems I have broken the record on “returning to the drawing board” with several office relocations (now happily from home, isn’t that funny?) and a clinical caseload that has been resilient but quite frankly, restructured more times than a rubiks cube in an effort to understand what my heart really wanted all along. I find myself letting go of a career and totally inspired by a woman who came up to me over two years ago at a taco bell drive thru cautiously asking if I knew of any open foodbanks at 10pm. No, I sure don’t, I thought. I did know what it was like to wrap a batch of quarters and then have to decide if it was for the milk and bread or the water bill. She asked for a couple bucks so she could go into the save-a-lot just behind us. I handed her a 5, and seeing her come out with 3 bags of food on my $5 was a defining moment for me. I tend to think so big than get overwhelmed with how much I want to help that I freeze up and don’t know where to start.That moment, however, helped me finally understand what it meant to give from what we have first, and that it truly doesn’t have to be much to make a huge impact on someone’s life. Thank God for that because my heart has always been much bigger than my wallet, regardless of all of the Laws of Attraction books, tapes or workshops that in my opinion send a heart-breaking message at times that everyone is meant to be wealthy in tangible form. That is a blog post in and of itself. This one is my way of saying to the world that I most definitely see and hear those who just geneuinely need for an opportunity to just come knocking and life give them a %$#! break (excuse my symbols). If you revisit another rubiks cube known as my site as well as www.adifferentrhythm.blogspot.com, I hope the message of genuinely trying to support each other without judgement shines through more with each click of the mouse. Mastering online marketing seems so much more efficient for me than mingling at all those networking meetings.(I hated those. Sorry). I am on a borrowed laptop as we speak with a windows 98 dinosaur doing what it can (not much lol), but finally feeling inspired. What is identity? Is it the thing that defines a thing, person, item ethnic groups, race, tribes, religion, or what exactly? Whatever the definition of this word is, I am yet to discover my own identity. I am more confused each and everyday. I will live with this confusion for as long as I live, a life of pains, bad memories, betrayal, deceit and courage with a couple of bad choices I made to rise above this hell called my life. This book speaks about the hurdles and fights I have gone through in my short life, some miseries caused by my parent’s wrong judgments and bad choices and some that were just pure bad luck and some experiences that were raw due to my own bad judgments and mistakes. I cant believe its already been 24 years of my life and im still at point one looking and still hoping for the sun to rise and shine on my life, I often think it will never happen, and on some days I wake up very optimistic…. The determenation that is keeping them alive and all of their strength and will to survive, one day I hope to have that courage that inspiring courage to live life everyday with a smile. Over the years I have been obliged to work with some quite nasty materials and chemicals in order to make things happen. And I feel quite fortunate to be a healthy 50 year old, dispite the impetuous abuse to my system. I have ‘Seen the Light’ and will now only work with environmentally friendly materials. Which I also encourage as a Lecturer at The Centre for the Creative Industries at Exeter College. This year I set up FX Sculpture and our aim is produce modern sculpture that is inspired by Sci-Fi and Fantasy. The kind of stuff that we are all used to seeing in films and on television. Our Greys that Glow are our first product. They are cast using Jesmonite, which is an envronmentally friendly water based resin system, manufactured here in the UK. As a new business venture we have only recently started to promote our work on the internet. And are finding it a quagmire of advertisers asking money up front and shops offering sale on return. I requested 30 minutes given the scope and detail of my inquiry; they said I could have 20.  Submitted by Joe An important concept to define might be the concept of freedom. What the heck is that? I’ve been quietly studying this concept of freedom for myself and thought I’d make a note of it. I see freedom as an ability, as a possiblity, as an avenue of action. With a new car comes the freedom of travel; it’s an avenue of increased activity. With connections to the right people comes the possibility of a greatly increased shpere of action. The examples can go on and on. I look at freedom as an elevated existence and the resultant resposibilities that go with it. For me, freedom is not the same thing as escaping responsibility, in fact, it’s totally the opposite. With freedoms come greater responsibilities. Now that you have a new car, don’t you need to maintain it? Purpose fits in here somewhere. If my purposes consisted of walking my dog in the best, and most expansive park, and there was a park across the street, then i would technically have all the freedoms i desired. But, if i hated walking the damn dog, and thought of it as a chore, then the park across the street wouldn’t look seem so exciting. But there is one more scenario that i’ve been noticing… What if everyone had the purpose to create a better life, and the freedoms, avenues, and possibilities for enhancement exists … NOW?
He also helped us to acknowledge that we have a power within us greater than any other in the universe, and that is the power of Almighty God. Once we were able to believe in ourselves then we were able to bring other men & women out of mental darkness so that they too could begin educating as well as uplifting mankind. (1. Welcome to my first Art in the Making Newsletter, which marks my re-emergence into the art world and the launch of the Leisa Collins website. So how did this all begin? The year was 1975. It was the beginning of a beautiful New Zealand summer and I was fresh out of high school. The setting was a stuffy lecture room at the Auckland Technical Institute where I had enrolled for art training so that I wouldn’t end up behind a grocery store check-out counter with no formal education to fall back on. The teacher’s discourse ran on and on, his voice echoing off the walls… and then it hit me! There had to be more to art and life than this! Surely art was something to be LIVED, not just the subject of boring, pedantic course room lectures. I made up my mind. I would learn my craft by capturing the splendor of the countryside on canvas. I threw the few paintings and art supplies I possessed in the back of my old station wagon and with only a few dollars in my pocket (no credit cards those days) I embarked upon a new adventure. And what an adventure it was. I gave rides to a wide variety of foreign hitch-hikers and learned about their cultures and customs, I visited the Maraes (community meeting centers) of New Zealand’s native Maori race, I got lost in remote mountain regions, and when I found myself totally broke I spontaneously set up my easel with a beautiful scene in front of me… and a busy tourist resort directly behind.I sold the landscape before the paint was dry and was back on the road in a flash. My interactions with people on these travels gave me my first view of social injustice. When I arrived back in Auckland I continued my career as a full time artist while becoming increasingly involved in the growing movement to restore Maori land rights. A few years later I decided to devote my energies full time to social issues – a course which lead me to the four corners of the globe. This provided me with greater insight on life and introduced me to many diverse cultures and art forms. My motto is Art with a Message and my new path is to work again as a full time artist while using my art to promote and create change on important social issues. Over the last few months I have compiled an art portfolio which I hereby proudly present to you through my new website – www.leisacollins.com. My name is Barbara Ayash This letter is being sent to Americans believing our nation has been nominated by the world to keep the torch of Freedom burning. Since 1776 – Americans, including children, have set the example for the rest of the world. The 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, put it this way: “Democracy must be based not on ‘mere’ opinion but on ‘moral purpose.” This great man led this nation in a war that defended freedom for all people in America, be they white, black, red, brown, or yellow because he believe in the basic goodness of mankind. A leading black educator, Luis W. Sullivan, U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services once stated: “To teach young people that their lives are governed – not by their own actions, but by socio-economic forces or . . . forces beyond their control—is to teach our children negativism, resignation, passivity and despair. Values [morals] pave the way out of poverty and toward prosperity and fulfillment. “ Whether earned or won by war, freedom is not based on enslavement, hatred, dishonesty, mistrust, murder, robbery or other crimes, drug abuse, illiteracy or injustice. If ‘Freedom,’ according to Mr. Lincoln, is based on ‘moral purpose’ then a definition of the term ‘moral’ that anyone can understand is required. Webster’s New World Dictionary definition reads: . . “folkways that are considered conducive to the welfare of society and so, through general observance, develop the force of law, often becoming part of the formal legal code.” Example: “Moral people are those capable of making the distinction between right and wrong in conduct.” The author of a book first published in 1981 titled The Way To Happiness® defined the term “morals” this way: “There is freedom in knowing what is thought right and what is thought wrong. There is only slavery when nobody knows and the rules are ‘off the cuff.’ If a moral code were thoroughly reasonable, it could, at the same time be considered thoroughly ethical. But only at this highest level could the two be called the same. It is not just the job of our loved ones in uniform set to go to war. It is the job of every citizen to HELP take responsibility for some of the things America stands for. Today we live in a dangerous environment. War seems eminent. Even children protest that idea. If you champion the dignity of mankind and freedom for mankind, then you believe in the basic goodness of mankind. The United States Constitution is based on a belief in mankind, his basic goodness, his right to personal freedom and the pursuit of happiness. If we as a great society begin to pull together towards a purpose shared in common as stated by President Lincoln, we can help create a better society for all. We can ensure our children and grandchildren inherit a less dangerous world – perhaps even a world based on mutual understanding, peace, tolerance and freedom for all mankind. The urge for me to help others has always been strong, but has decreased over time- until now. This page is a goofy, simple, and highly truthful representation of the relationship between myself and others. How do i be myself full time by delivering help to the max and still getting paid for it? How do i help others realize their true goals?
